As digital cobwebs begin to form on my blog, I know time has come to pick up my digital pen and start writing again.
Now, there is a reason for my rather long hiatus from writing. The question is where to begin and how much of this am I willing to share online?
Lots of things seemed to happen at once. Someone once told me that things happen in threes. I am not entirely convinced this is true.
Colin and I bought our first home. I got offered my dream job. I was traveling back home for the first time since leaving for Australia. Things were exciting, I was excited and I had my usual happy and optimistic disposition for life.
It was about a month after I returned to Australia that things started turning… unpleasant should we say. The cost of living crisis caught up to Australia and basic life essentials crept and up and up.
Then came serious illness within the family. I felt like everything crumbling around me, it felt like nothing I was doing was right. It didn’t matter what I did, it was wrong. My emotions were all over the place, my partner did his best to console me but of course it was a difficult time for him too.
I am happy to report that this family member is now on the mend. Furthermore, I am coming out now from what I felt was one of the most difficult times I have ever faced in my life. I am steadily returning to my normal sunny disposition for life.
In other news…
Blueberry featuring Colin’s arm
We adopted a cat! His name is Blueberry. We don’t know much about his past. When he came to live with us his behavior was very challenging. However, with support from the RSPCA his behavior has improved. He can be absolutely lovely when he wants to, often in the mornings he will come and sit on my lap on his own accord. He actively asks for attention and both of us are better at understanding him and his needs.
My hands cupping a strawberry
We harvested our first strawberry! This year I have many strawberry plants on the go. Although I am yet unsure whether there will be enough of them to make jam this year. In Victoria where we now live the weather is so volatile you never know what to expect. Luckily we haven’t had any flooding yet, but La Nina threatens us yet!
Unfortunately because of the unexpected family illness (who ever expects serious illness?) There have been some projects these last couple of months that I have put off, like writing on this blog.
In truth, I am unsure exactly what direction this blog is going to go in from this point forward. When I started this blog I was new in Australia and one and a half years on now we are in a different place in our lives.
Although at this stage I can’t tell you when, I can reveal that I am developing an idea for a food blog. This idea is something I have been thinking about for a while and it will be independent from this one. More details will be shared in future updates, so stay tuned!
Until next time…
Remember to tell those around you that you love them, you never know when will be the last time.
